Kearny Hit-and-Run That Critically Injured Pedestrian, Under Investigation

Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Kearny Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run collision that critically injured a pedestrian on Thursday, May 30.AdHudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said that shortly after 7 a.m., the Kearny Police Department was notified of a pedestrian struck at the intersection of Kearny Avenue and Columbia Avenue.

Responding officers located a male victim, later identified as a 76-year-old Kearny resident, with serious injuries, officials said. 

Officials say the striking vehicle did not remain at the scene.

According to officials, the victim was transported by Emergency Medical Services to University Hospital in Newark, where he remains in critical condition.AdDuring the preliminary investigation, authorities said the vehicle suspected of being involved in the collision was recovered.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Kearny Department are actively investigating this matter, officials stated.
