NJ Transit Police are investigating a train strike that left a juvenile injured in Montclair during the overnight hours.
According to a statement released by NJ Transit officials, the incident happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. where NJ Transit Montclair/Boonton line train number 6299 left New York Penn Station at 11:42 p.m. was heading to Montclair State University with an expected arrival of 12:33 a.m.
Officials say the unidentified juvenile was struck by the train and sustained unspecified injuries at the Jerome Place crossing. There were no injuries to two passengers on board the train.
The victim was transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment, according to officials.
Service on the Montclair Boonton line was not affected by the incident that remains under investigation.
