Police in Paterson took a juvenile into custody and charged him with possession of a weapon after a motor vehicle stopped in the city Saturday morning.
The early morning incident happened near the area of Godwin Avenue and Summer Street around 2:50 a.m.
Preliminary reports indicated that offer patrolling the area of Godwin Avenue and Summer Street pulled over a vehicle for traffic violations. The investigation led to the discovery of a gun.
Paterson police arrested the juvenile without further incident.
Police are continuing to investigate where the gun originated and why the boy had the weapon.
