Hudson County offcials are looking into the cause of a crash that injured an officer in Jersey City Saturday night.
According to Jersey City Police, emergency responders rushed to the intersection of Mallory and Communipaw avenues after receiving reports of a crash with a trapped person inside the vehicle.
Rescue crews arrived and found a severely damaged and overturned police cruiser that struck a pole then slammed into the window of a Chevrolet car dealership at that location.
Police say the Sergeant -who operated the car- was able to self-extricate shortly before emergency responders arrived at the scene. EMS transported the alert and conscious officer to Jersey City Medical Center in stable condition.
Authorities closed Mallory Avenue from NJ-440 to Communipaw for the investigation
Police have not released the cause of the crash at this time.
