Several loud popping noises that rang out in the vicinity of Long Street and Rose Avenue in Jersey City prompted residents to take cover while they frantically dialed 911 for help.
According to preliminary reports, the incident was reported at approximately 8:30 p.m. where police units arrived at the scene and found evidence that a shooting occurred but after a search of the area, they did not locate any victims.
Multiple shell casings were found at the scene after a gunman fired shots at an unknown target according to reports.
Police temporarily closed Rose Avenue for the investigation, but there were no reports of arrests.
