Almost 20 years since the last demonstration, 4,000 Jersey City teachers and paraprofessionals went on strike early Friday morning.
According to reports, teachers could be seen this morning outside Henry Snyder High School on the picket line as contract negotiations resumed.
Officials said teachers are demanding lower health insurance premiums, which increased during Gov. Chris Christie.
The district however has to battle with present budget gaps.
According to officials, as long as the strike continues, students will have a half day.
