Jersey City Police detained a male suspect believed to have fired multiple rounds into a crowd on Thursday night.
According to preliminary investigations, an off-duty police officer witnessed the suspect shooting in the area of 79 Dales Avenue shortly before 8:50 p.m.
Responding officers joined the off-duty officer at the scene and cordoned off the area where the shots were fired. Although no victims were found at the scene, local hospitals were alerted to look out for walk-in gunshot victims.
The motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined, and the Jersey City Police Department is currently leading the investigation.
