Jersey City police are investigating an early morning armed robbery at a local business on Monday.
According to authorities, officers were dispatched to the Grand Smoke Shop, located at 726 Grand Street, at approximately 1:50 a.m. after receiving reports of an armed robbery in progress.
Upon arrival, police learned that a male suspect, described as Black, entered the store armed with a gun and demanded cash.
However, instead of taking money, the suspect fled with stolen cigarettes.
Following the incident, police established a perimeter near the intersection of Van Horne Street and Communipaw Avenue, believing the suspect may have escaped into the area.
No physical injuries were reported, and the suspect remains at large. The investigation is ongoing.
