Jersey City Man Sentenced to Prison for Fatal Stabbing in 2022

Authorities in Hudson County announced that on Friday, February 21, the Honorable Nesle Rodriguez sentenced a Jersey City man to 18 years in New Jersey State Prison for his role in a fatal stabbing that occurred at a Light Rail station in 2022.

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated that Anthony Bell (pictured), 40, pled guilty to one count of Aggravated Manslaughter on September 18, 2024.

The sentence is subject to the No Early Release Act, and 85% of the prison time must be served before becoming eligible for parole, HCPO officials say. The State was represented in this matter by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Nicole Ghezzar.

According to Hudson County officials, on Friday, January 28, 2022, at approximately 11:37 p.m., police were notified of an injured person on the Danforth Avenue Light Rail Station platform.

Responding officers found a male, later identified as Kenneth Brown, 49, of Jersey City, with an apparent stab wound to his upper body, Hudson County authorities stated. 

HCPO officials said that Emergency Medical Services transported him to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at approximately 12:34 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022.
