Jersey City

By: Richard L. Smith

According to information released by Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, a Jersey City man has been charged in connection with a sexual assault and home invasion that occurred on Sunday, January 5.

Jermaine Adams, 47, is facing multiple charges, including aggravated sexual assault, home invasion burglary, aggravated assault, aggravated arson, terroristic threats, and criminal restraint.

Prosecutors revealed that Adams was already detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter when these new charges were filed.

AdThe investigation, conducted by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office Special Victims Unit and the Jersey City Police Department, was expedited thanks to the county’s in-house DNA laboratory.

The lab produced critical results that were instrumental in advancing the case, according to Prosecutor Suarez.

This case underscores the effectiveness of the newly established DNA lab and the collaborative efforts between local law enforcement agencies.

Adams now awaits further legal proceedings related to the incident.
