Jersey City Man Admits Altercation with Officers During Sentencing of Brother's Killer in Newark

A 29-year-old Jersey City man pleaded guilty to a disorderly conduct charge after an altercation with Essex County sheriff's officers during the May sentencing of the man who killed his brother in Newark.

Rahmel Belle on Oct. 9, plead guilty to the disorderly persons offense on before Superior Court Judge Bahir Kamil. Belle was ordered to pay $125 in fees without any jail time.

On May 5, Rahmel Belle stood up while his mother was addressing the court and began approaching, George Jones, 42, of Newark, man accused of fatally shooting Michael Belle - Rahmel's brother - while using explicit language.

Belle was quickly escorted to the hallway by a sheriff's officer. In an attempt to re-enter the courtroom, Belle allegedly rammed into three officers.

The two officers who suffered minor injuries were treated at the scene while Belle was attending the sentencing of Jones, who fatally shot Michael Belle on July 27, 2013 on Elizabeth Avenue in Newark.

Belle was arrested and released the day of the incident.
