A member of a Jersey City gang associated with the Marion Gardens Housing Complex has been sentenced to 234 months in prison for racketeering, drug trafficking, and firearms offenses.
U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced the sentencing of Jervon Morris, also known as “Sticky,” 35, who pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and related charges in federal court in Newark before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi.
Court documents and statements revealed that Morris, along with other members and associates of the gang tied to the Marion Gardens Housing Complex, participated in the distribution of cocaine and heroin in the area.
The gang also engaged in various violent acts, including assaults, shootings, and murders, often targeting rival gang members.
One of the notable incidents occurred on July 28, 2011, when Morris, alongside Kevin Williams, also known as “KK” or “Kay Kay,” 31, and other gang members, committed a murder near Gifford Avenue and Bergen Avenue in Jersey City.
In addition to his prison term, Morris will serve three years of supervised release.
Kevin Williams, who was involved in another violent incident on Feb. 7, 2018—an assault near Summit Avenue and Magnolia Avenue—was sentenced on October 3, 2024, to 198 months in prison.
Another gang member, Terick Rogers, also known as “Moot,” 32, was sentenced to 192 months in prison on August 21, 2024, for a shooting on June 30, 2018, during a gathering known as “Meech Day,” where five people were injured.
Additionally, on Jan. 9, 2019, Jakeem Gibson-Madison, aka “Beanz,” 30, and another gang associate targeted a rival gang member in the area of Grant Avenue and Ocean Avenue, resulting in three people being shot, two of whom were injured. Gibson-Madison received a 180-month prison sentence on August 20, 2024.
These sentences highlight the ongoing efforts to address gang-related violence and drug trafficking in Jersey City, targeting those who perpetuate violence within the community.
