Jersey City Fire Damages a Total of Five Homes After Re-Igniting

A Thursday night fire re-ignited early this morning causing extensive to as many as five home, according to officials.

Firefighters were called responded to 275 Forrest Street for a report of a fire at approximately 8 p.m. last night.

The fire which reportedly started at a vacant structure spread to 279 Forrest Street home (occupied by six adults and two children), 273, 271, and 269.

According to officials resulted in the following damage to the structures:

269 Forrest Street - minor damage

271 Forrest Street - minor damage

273 Forrest Street - extensive damage

275 Forrest Street - "total loss"

279 Forrest Street - "total loss"

The fire was initially placed under control 9:30 p.m. but reignited at 271 Forrest Street at 6 a.m. today.

A total of three firefighters were treated for injuries from a leg strain to minor burns to the neck and ears areas.

The cause and origin of both fires remain under investigation.
