A three-alarm building fire sent three firefighters to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.
According to authorities, firefighters responded to a three-story building, on Lincoln Street between Kennedy Boulevard and Milton Avenue, just after 2 p.m.
Officials say the fire was placed under control at 3:19 p.m. and no residents of the building were injured.
The Red Cross responded to assist the displaced families.
Officials at this time believe the fire started at the rear of the building on the second or third floor but the cause remains under investigation.
A battalion chief, captain and firefighter had difficulty breathing and were taken to the Jersey City Medical Center for treatment officials said.
Authorities say there were at least six apartments in the buildings.
