Jersey City Bank Robbery Suspect Threatens to Shoot People Inside

Authorities Friday responded to the Chase on Central Avenue after a man threaten to shoot people inside bank. 

Police responded to the Chase bank branch, located at 374 Central Ave.,  sometime around 3 p.m. for a reported of a bank robbery

The bank robber, described as 5'6" tall and was last seen wearing light blue denim jacket, dark jeans, boots , and black framed eyeglasses, made off with approximately $2,500 cash, police said.

A bank teller told police, the man approached her and slid a note under the safety glass. The teller than told the man that in order to have access to money from a safe behind the counter she had to input several codes, police said.

The man then threatened to start shooting people if she did not hand money over to him, according to report.

The teller than walked away to inform manager of the situation when suspect approached another employee threatening to shoot people if he did not get the money, police said. The teller complied. 

When bank robber, saw manager approaching him, he fled north on Central Avenue and then west on Charles Street, according to report. 

According to officials, a suspect was developed and are actively searching for the suspect's whereabouts.
