An Islamic service is scheduled for a teenaged legal adult who was gunned down on a street in East Orange on New Year’s morning.
According to officials, Jananzah service is set for 10-12 p.m. tomorrow -Tuesday- for Mr. Ibn Downey, 18, at the Chapels of Eden Funeral Home, LLC located at 110 South Munn Avenue in East Orange.
According to The Essex County Prosecutor's Office, Downey, of Newark was killed when a gunman fired multiple times in his direction striking him near 178 North 17th Street at around 12:45 a.m.
When officers arrived at the scene, officials said they found Downey in an unconscious and unresponsive state suffering gunshot wounds.
Authorities say a search of the area had officers also locate a second victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound. This victim was transported to the hospital for treatment according to The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Ibn’s killer remains at-large according to authorities.
