Union County Haz-Mat and NJDOT responded to Elizabeth last night to assist local police with a jackknifed tractor trailer.
According to authorities, shortly before 8 p.m, firefighters responded to Route 1&9 and East Jersey Street for a jackknifed tractor trailer that hydro-planed into the divider then off the roadway during the torrential rain storms.
Upon arrival, crews discovered that one of the truck’s saddle tanks ruptured causing haz-mat conditions.
According to officers, there were no injuries.
The incident remains under investigation.
