Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, along with Irvington Public Safety Director Tracy Bowers, have announced the arrest of Marquise Jones, a 31-year-old resident of Irvington, following charges of sexually assaulting two women under grave circumstances.

Jones was apprehended on April 10 and faces accusations of assault on two separate occasions, March 25 and April 10, at the same location in Irvington, New Jersey.

The first reported incident led to a police response at Saint Michael’s Hospital on March 26, after the initial victim recounted being attacked at knifepoint and struggling over the weapon, leading to injuries on both the victim and the assailant.

A similar report emerged on April 10 from another victim, who described a comparable violent encounter with Jones at the same location.

Following an investigation, the Irvington Police Department identified Jones as the suspect in both cases.

He was subsequently charged with ten offenses, including two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault for each victim, criminal restraint, and related weapons charges.

Superior Court Judge Patrick J. Arre ruled on April 17 that Jones would be detained in Essex County Jail pending resolution of his cases, underscoring the severity of the allegations.

It is important to note that the charges against Jones remain accusations at this stage, and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
