Irvington Man Charged with Armed Robbery of East Hanover Business

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp and East Hanover Township Chief of Police Christopher F. Cannizzo announce the arrest of Alteriek F. Scott, 38, of Irvington, on criminal charges stemming from an armed robbery.  

According to authorities, on August 12th, the East Hanover Police Department responded to The Five Guys Burgers, located at 240 Rt. 10 in East Hanover, to investigate a report of an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, police learned that the suspect entered the business and allegedly threatened the employees with a knife. He then fled the scene with cash in excess of $500.00.      

As a result of the investigation, the suspect was identified as Alteriek F. Scott, who was arrested on August 25th in Irvington without incident.  

Police charged Scott with robbery, aggravated assault, theft, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and certain persons not to have weapons. 

Scott was remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility.

A criminal complaint is merely an accusation. Despite this accusation, the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until he/she has been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a Court of law.
