The Township of Irvington, led by The Honorable Mayor Tony Vauss and the Irvington Municipal Council, hosted a special Senior Appreciation Night in honor of Mother's Day on Saturday, May 11. 
Held at the Irvington High School gymnasium, the event brought together the community to celebrate its senior citizens.
Mayor Vauss emphasized the significance of the seniors' sacrifices, acknowledging their resilience in the face of challenges like racism and inequality.
The celebration featured a musical performance by seven-time Emmy award-winning artist Hunter Hayes, who entertained the crowd with his talent.
Attendees enjoyed a lavish dinner, and a raffle offered prizes such as microwaves, coffee makers, blenders, gift cards, TVs, and kitchen sets.
Mayor Vauss also distributed teddy bears and balloons, adding a personal touch to the festivities.
The evening took an emotional turn when Mayor Vauss shared the recent loss of his mother and expressed how this would be his first Mother's Day without her.
In a heartfelt gesture, the seniors presented him with an award to show their appreciation for his dedication to the community.
The event's success was made possible by the contributions of local business owners, police, firefighters, and township employees who donated their time and resources.
