This year’s event carries a powerful theme—recognizing the transformative power of education and honoring the school principals who have demonstrated great dedication to student success throughout the 2024–2025 academic year.

Accoridng to The Honorable Mayor Tony Vauss, the evening promises to be a spirited gathering of residents, educators, and community leaders, united in pride and progress.

Mayor Vauss emphasized the importance of showcasing excellence to inspire future generations.

“This year, we want our young people to see the possibilities that come with commitment and education,” he said.

“We’re showing them what it looks like when someone pushes beyond limits—a woman who earned the title ‘Doctor’ by striving for more.”

That inspiration will be highlighted by the event’s distinguished keynote speaker, Dr. Chris T. Pernell, MD, MPH, FACPM, a trailblazing voice in public health and social justice. As the Director of the NAACP Center for Health Equity, Dr. Pernell brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to uplifting underserved communities.

Her academic journey is equally remarkable, holding an Executive Master’s degree in Health Policy and Services Management from Columbia University, a Doctor of Medicine from Duke University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Neuroscience concentration from Princeton University.

Her accolades in health equity and advocacy have made her a leading figure nationally.

The evening will also serve as a tribute to the steadfast leadership of the Irvington Public School District’s principals.

“In a time when educational systems face unprecedented challenges, these administrators have become beacons of resilience and innovation, helping to shape a brighter future for the township’s youth.

Superintendent Dr. April Vauss, who has played a central role in steering the district toward continued progress, will co-host the event alongside Mayor Vauss.

Entertainment will add to the occasion, with special performances by Andrew Potts Jr. and YAHSQUAD, contributing to the dynamic, uplifting atmosphere.

Guests will also enjoy complimentary grab-and-go dinners and free parking.

Residents are encouraged to attend and be a part of this inspiring night of recognition, unity, and forward momentum.
