Two brothers have pleaded guilty in connection with the 2012 fatal shooting at a check-cashing business in Irvington, according to Katherine Carter, spokeswoman for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
Irvington men, Jean Francois, 21, and Pierre Joseph, pleaded guilty on July 2. Joseph pleaded guilty to obstruction while Francois pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of a handgun after a plea deal in connection to the shooting on Jan. 18, 2012 that killed Daniel Joseph and injured a second man, authorities said.
Prosecutors are recommending a seven-year sentence of which Francois would have to serve three and a half years before becoming eligible for parole.
While Joseph is anticipated to be sentenced to time served, according to Carter.
Sentencing has been scheduled for Aug. 31 before Superior Court Judge Michael L. Ravin.
