The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Bergenfield Police Department is actively investigating a heartbreaking incident that occurred on Brook Street in Bergenfield.
Tragically, it resulted in the loss of a 2-year-old child's life on Sunday, November 5.
Officials said the situation happened at approximately 5:20 p.m., prompting an urgent response from the Bergenfield Police Department after receiving a distressing 911 call concerning an unresponsive 2-year-old child.
Responding officers quickly arrived on the scene and initiated life-saving measures for the child before transporting them to Holy Name Medical Center.
Despite the valiant efforts of medical professionals, the young child was later pronounced deceased, leaving the community in mourning and authorities determined to understand the circumstances surrounding this tragedy.
An ongoing investigation is now being conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office under the guidance of Chief Jason Love, in collaboration with the Bergenfield Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Mustafa Rabboh.
