Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone reported that an investigation is ongoing into a fatal car crash that occurred on Thursday, October 3, 2024.
The incident took place around 7:13 p.m. at the intersection of Route 522 and Georges Road.
According to Middlesex County authorities, the crash involved a Jeep Liberty that collided with a Hyundai Sonata carrying three passengers.
The impact caused serious injuries to all occupants of the Hyundai. Emergency responders transported the driver, front passenger, and rear passenger to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for medical care.
Unfortunately, Ranjinidevi Ramakrishnan, 43, of Kendall Park, who was seated in the rear of the Hyundai, succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The initial investigation, led by Officer Trevor Michie of the South Brunswick Police Department and Detective James Alleva of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, found that the Jeep Liberty ran a red light, leading to the collision.
The driver of the Jeep Liberty also sustained injuries and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
