Investigation Underway After Two Suspected Overdose Deaths at New Jersey Motel

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, in collaboration with the Fort Lee Police Department, is currently investigating two suspected overdose deaths that occurred at the Skyview Motel on Bergen Boulevard in Fort Lee today.

AdAt approximately 1:41 p.m., the Fort Lee Police Department received a call regarding a possible medical emergency in one of the rented rooms at the Skyview Motel.

Swiftly responding to the scene, Fort Lee police officers encountered a sad situation. 

Inside the room, they discovered five individuals who were in various states of consciousness, displaying symptoms consistent with a drug overdose.

Officers immediately initiated life-saving measures, including the administration of Naloxone, a medication used to counteract opioid overdoses.  

Despite their valiant efforts, two of the individuals succumbed to the overdose and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The remaining three individuals were swiftly transported to a local hospital for further medical attention.

As a standard procedure, the identities of the deceased victims are being withheld pending the notification of their next of kin.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office is spearheading the investigation under the direction of Chief Jason Love.

The authorities are diligently working to unravel the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident, with a focus on identifying the source and nature of the substances involved.

The incident is a grim reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by substance abuse and the critical importance of community vigilance and support in addressing these issues.AdFort Lee and Bergen County officials said they are committed to ensuring that those responsible are held accountable while also providing resources for individuals struggling with addiction.
