Officers from Irvington and Newark responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 182 Vermont Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m.
Upon arrival, law enforcement units discovered a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.
The victim was promptly transported to University Hospital for medical treatment and is expected to recover.
