Investigation Leads to Arrest of Paterson Man for Shooting, Multiple Other Charges

Authorities in Passaic County announced the arrest of 21-year-old Mr. Memphis Morales from Paterson.AdThis arrest, occurring on January 12, 2024, is the culmination of extensive investigative efforts by multiple agencies, including the Paterson Police Department Shooting Investigation Unit, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, The New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit, and the United States Marshal’s Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force, among others.

Officials said Morales faces a series of grave charges, including Attempted Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, and Terroristic Threats, following his alleged involvement in a January 11 shooting on Arch Street and Garfield Avenue in Paterson.

The prompt response of the Paterson Police led to the discovery of a 28-year-old male victim, who was promptly transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for a non-fatal gunshot wound.

Further, Morales is implicated in another shooting incident from September 17, 2023, in the Market Street and Pennington Street area of Paterson.Ad This earlier event resulted in a non-fatal gunshot wound to a 34-year-old Secaucus resident.

Adding to the charges, Morales has also been linked to a November 5, 2023, domestic violence incident in Paterson, leading to additional allegations, including possession of hollow point bullets and a high-capacity magazine.

The coordinated efforts of the various law enforcement agencies have been pivotal in apprehending Morales, reflecting a strong commitment to public safety and justice in the community.
