An intense fire erupted at 850 Palisades Avenue in Teaneck, resulting in severe injuries to three residents early Monday morning. Preliminary information from the scene indicated that firefighters responded to urgent calls around 12:30 a.m., reporting a house fire with individuals trapped inside.
Upon their arrival, the severity of the situation necessitated the elevation to a third-alarm fire, signaling the need for additional manpower to combat the flames and smoke coming from the building.
The fire, which had engulfed the basement of the residence, presented a critical challenge for the responding crews.
Utilizing three fire lines, the firefighters fought to subdue the blaze.
Their efforts led them to the discovery of three victims in the basement. Tragically, two of these individuals had sustained severe burns during the ordeal.
All three victims were promptly transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for urgent medical care. Meanwhile, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office Arson Squad has initiated a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire, which remains undetermined at this stage.
