Innovative Newark Charter School Teacher Carjacked at Gunpoint in Newark

There is an active search underway in Newark for the suspects responsible for a horrifying overnight carjacking of a teacher in Newark.

Police responded to the 400 block of North 7th Street at around 12:30 a.m. on reports of a carjacking in progress when they arrived to the scene and was approached by a female victim who reported to officers that at around midnight, a black male suspect approached while she was exiting her car that was parked in her driveway.

According to the victim, the suspect approached armed with a gun then pointed it at her forehead and stated "if you scream, I will shoot you" .

The suspect quickly stripped away the woman's bag that contained personal items then he drove away in the vehicle according to the victim.

Police are searching for a black 2-door 2014 Honda Accord with reported NJ license plate numbers "S21-ERP". The weapon used in the carjacking was reportedly a silver revolver according to reports.

The victim is a Newark charter school teacher at the Spark Academy and one of the pastors of a Bloomfield church according to reports.

According to in-boxed messages and phone calls sent to RLS Metro Breaking News, the victim has been credited for several innovative teaching techniques at the school as is well liked by parents, students, and staff.

She is a Columbia graduate and a long time Newark resident according to messages left to RLS Metro Breaking News.

There were no physical injuries reported.
