Social media rumors of a male who suffered a fatal kick to the face during a brawl that erupted between several men outside a Newark Ironbound nightclub were unfounded by the Essex County Prosecutor's Office but chaotic physical attacks that involved over a dozen alleged partygoers on Saturday night was all so real.
A video sent to RLS Metro showed violence erupting outside of the Patio Restaurant and Lounge -located at the intersection of Wilson and Lafayette Street- late Saturday night between about a dozen males who actually engaged in kicking, punching and tearing at each other during the incident. Several women who attempted to break up the fight were also attacked.
One of several physical altercations that occurred on the video had an unidentified male being violently kicked to the face which caused him to fall unconscious to the ground.
According to a brief statement released by a spokesperson for the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, they could not confirm any fatalities or a homicide investigations in or around that location.
The establishment's security personnel were observed on the video breaking up several of the fights, but while they quelled one dispute, others began to attack each other.
Newark Police units did arrive at the scene, but there were no reports of arrests made.
The video showed dozens of patrons watching the brawl from open windows of the Patio in horror with some exiting the window to assist in the altercation.
The Patio, which is usually a great tranquil place to meet with friends, have great coffee, and food during the day, didn't resemble this tranquility on Saturday according to the video.
