A raging two-alarm fire that tore through a vacant house in Newark had firefighters on the scene overnight.
Fire broke out inside a vacant home located at 11 Parkhurst Street at around 1:20 a.m. sending morning than a dozen firefighters to the scene where they observed a house fully involved in fire upon their arrival.
Crews fought flames that shot from the structure in the direction of a nearby supermarket, but crews were successful in preventing extensions.
EMS treated a firefighter and civilian for non-life threatening injuries according to preliminary reports.
A resident living in the area said that she did not see a man who occupied the house come out and wasn't sure if the man was still inside.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Newark Fire Department.
