Fire officials in Newark are investigating the cause of a fire that ignited inside a building overnight in Newark.
The fast-moving blaze erupted inside a three-story brick building located at 702 Sandford Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they observed smoke coming from the building upon their arrival.
Crews were able to knock down the blaze in a short amount of time, but several people reportedly jumped from third-floor windows to escape the fire.
Less than a half dozen people were taken to area hospitals suffering non-life threatening injuries according to authorities.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
