One person suffered serious injuries in a reported carjacking at a gas station in Jersey City Wednesday morning.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 3:15 a.m., police were alerted of a carjacking in progress at the Shell Gas station at the intersection of Communipaw Avenue and NJ-440.
Upon arrival, police requested EMS on the rush after they found a person suffering serious injuries at that location.
While investigating the scene, officers were informed that a carjacking had resulted from the incident. The suspect fled the scene and was last observed heading over the bridge into Kearny.
The carjacked vehicle is believed to be a burgundy Honda Odyssey.
Authorities have not confirmed if the suspect used a weapon during the encounter.
The investigation remains active.
