Newark Fire officials are looking into an early morning fire that ignited inside a house in the city's West Ward on Friday.
According to preliminary reports, extreme hoarding conditions and razor-sharp security barbed wire that surrounded a home located at 15 North Munn Avenue hindered firefighters' ability to get inside the home that had smoke and flames present upon crews' arrival.
Fire broke out inside the two and a half story wood-framed house at approximately 3:15 a.m. where firefighters arrived and began to make entry into the structure.
Once inside the home, firefighters were able to find the seat of the fire then they extinguished flames that destroyed the residence according to fire officials.
Two victims were transported to the hospital suffering from smoke inhalation but are expected to recover. Firefighters also rescued several cats from the burning home according to fire officials.
There were no other injuries reported.
The official cause of the fire remains under investigation.
