There is an active investigation underway into the cause of a crash that involved a University Hospital ambulance early Sunday morning in downtown Newark.
Details are pending a police information request, but according to preliminary reports, emergency responders and rescue crews rushed the intersection of McCarter Highway at Market Street after they learned of a crash with possible injuries.
Upon their arrival, crews found an ambulance somehow lost control and crashed head-on into a pole at that location.
At least four people, including two EMT's, suffered non-life threatening injuries reports said.
Newark Police is handling the investigation.
