There is an active search underway for a gunman who sprayed a residential section of East Orange with bullets this afternoon.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to multiple rounds of gunfire that rang out in the vicinity of Park Avenue and Vernon Terrace where residence say they heard popping noises at approximately 1:30 p.m.
Police arrived at the scene and taped off a three block stretch of Park Avenue where they found two vehicles with bullet holes.
One person was reportedly taken by EMS to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
A female resident in the area told RLS Metro Breaking news that one of the vehicle struck by gunfire did belonged to her but none of her family suffered injuries.
Police had both vehicles towed from the scene.
East Orange officials did not respond for information.
