Officials in Elizabeth are investigating whether the house where the fatal explosion occurred yesterday, had illegal improvements made.
As the investigation continues, officials are now looking into the possibility of illegal conversion inside the Magnolia Avenue home.
The explosion which ripped through the three-story home around 8 a.m. Wednesday remains a pretty active scene as demolition crews continued to remove rubble.
A total of sixteen people suffered a variety of injuries as a result of the explosion. The fatal victim was identified earlier today as 24-year-old Femi Brown, who was described as a nice young man by area residents.
It is unclear at this time if any of the residents would be allowed inside to obtain any remaing belonging.
