Authorities are investigating a double shooting that left one person dead and another injured late Saturday night in Jersey City.The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office is leading the inquiry into the violent incident, which has shaken the community.
According to preliminary information, the investigation began around 11:10 p.m. when officials at Jersey City Medical Center alerted police after two individuals arrived at the emergency room suffering gunshot wounds.
The unidentified victim sustained critical injuries and was later pronounced dead.
The female victim was struck in the back by gunfire.
Detectives worked through the night to locate the crime scene and eventually identified an area near Martin Luther King Drive and Oak Street as the likely site of the shooting.
Authorities have not yet determined a motive or the circumstances surrounding the attack.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has not released additional details as the investigation remains active and ongoing.
