The Hudson County Schools of Technology (HCST) is thrilled to announce its annual In-House Career Day, scheduled for Friday, April 26, 2024, from 10:00 am to 1:15 pm at the Frank J. Gargiulo Center. This year's event promises to be more engaging than ever, with the introduction of a mini Career Fair designed to connect high school students with local businesses and professionals from a variety of industries.
The fair, set to take place in the gymnasium, invites local businesses interested in hiring high school students and professionals eager to showcase their industries.
This initiative aims to provide students with a hands-on experience of various career paths, thereby enhancing the impact of Career Day and creating an immersive environment for learning and exploration.
HCST Superintendent Amy Lin-Rodriguez emphasized the significance of real-world experiences in shaping a student's career trajectory, stating, "Our Career Day is a platform for businesses and professionals to impart their knowledge and insights to our future workforce."
Alicia Abraham, Director of Career and Technical Education, echoed this sentiment, highlighting the event as a unique opportunity for students to engage with industry experts, thereby bridging the gap between classroom learning and practical applications. Participating professionals will have the chance to share their journeys, challenges, and achievements, offering valuable guidance and industry insights to students at a pivotal time in their career planning.
Linda DiGiacomo and Amy DeGise, Work-Based Learning Coordinators at HCST, stressed the importance of this collaboration in preparing students for the dynamic job market and encouraged businesses and individuals to contribute to this vital educational initiative.
HCST's In-House Career Day represents a crucial step in empowering students to make informed decisions about their future careers, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in the ever-evolving job market.
