Hudson County Career Development Center Hosting Outdoor Job Fair

Hudson County

Hudson County One Stop Career Development Center, in partnership with the Hudson County Schools of Technology and the Jersey City Employment and Training Program, will be hosting an outdoor job fair on Saturday, November 7.

The event, which will be held in the parking lot of the Frank J. Gargiulo Campus, is the first large scale and outdoor job fair in New Jersey since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic eight months ago.

“COVID-19 has had a devastating impact on our local economy and the livelihoods for so many in Hudson County,” County Executive Tom DeGise said. “This job fair is critical to our economic recovery and I am proud of the work that the Hudson County One-Stop, Hudson County Schools of Technology and Jersey City Employment and Training Program have done to make this event possible.”

Roughly 50 vendors, including trades programs, from across the region are expected to attend. Job seekers should bring 5 to 10 copies of their resume with them and be prepared to interview on the spot.

Attendees must pre-register online or at the gate and are reminded that masks will be required and social distancing regulations will be strictly enforced.

“The Hudson County One Stop serves as a lifeline to help individuals achieve their academic and career goals every day of the year,” Steve Smith, Director of the Career Development Center, said. “Despite facing challenges, we’ve remained committed to these goals and have identified ways to continue providing services to Hudson County residents. We anticipate a large turnout for this weekend’s job fair and encourage anyone looking for employment opportunities to join us in Secaucus on Saturday.”

Vendors will be accepting applications and meeting with job seekers from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Frank J. Gargiulo campus is located at 1 High Tech Way in Secaucus, next to Laurel Hill Park.

“Over the past eight months, the Hudson County Schools of Technology has worked collaboratively to provide essential resources to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Superintendent Amy Lin-Rodriguez said. “There has never been a greater need to help connect job seekers with employment opportunities and our district will continue to provide the support necessary to help our community recover and succeed.”

Additionally, the Hudson County Schools of Technology is providing free transportation to the event from Jersey City and Union City.

Busses will begin leaving from County Prep High School, 525 Montgomery Street in Jersey City (Lot 3), the Jersey City Employment and Training building, 398 Martin Luther King Drive, and the Hudson County One Stop, corner of 48th Street and Kennedy Boulevard in Union City, beginning at 9:30 a.m. Busses will depart every 30 minutes from each location, or until reaching capacity.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has affected urban communities at a disproportionate rate and as the most diverse city in the country, it furthers our responsibility to provide the appropriate services and resources to those impacted,” Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop said. “By working collaboratively with the JCETP, the Hudson County One Stop and the Hudson County Schools of Technology, we remain committed to identifying innovative ways to connect the dots between employers and job seekers to ensure Jersey City residents recover from this crisis.”
