An ongoing investigation is being carried out by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force in collaboration with North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue and the West New York Police Department following a tragic fire incident on Sunday, August 20.
Shortly before 5 a.m., North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue received a distress call about a fire engulfing an apartment situated above 6213 Bergenline Avenue.
Responders at the scene encountered thick smoke billowing from one of the apartment's bedrooms.
Amidst their firefighting efforts, they discovered an unresponsive male, tentatively identified as Mr. Adrian Hernandez-Bienes, 55, in the bedroom.
Despite prompt attention, Hernandez-Bienes was pronounced deceased at the site. Officials said two other occupants managed to evacuate the building unharmed.
Preliminary findings from the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force point to the bedroom of the apartment as the origin of the fire.
The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with all aspects under careful scrutiny.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is spearheading the inquiry, assisted by North Hudson Regional Fire and Rescue and the West New York Police Department.
