Authorities are investigating a serious crash in Howell Township that left a pedestrian hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced the ongoing investigation on Thursday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, around 5:17 p.m., near the intersection of US Route 9 and Lanes Mill Road.
According to initial reports, a female driver traveling northbound in the left lane of Route 9 struck a 45-year-old Lakewood woman as the vehicle approached the intersection.
Emergency responders transported the pedestrian to a local hospital, where she is receiving treatment for critical injuries.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities.
The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Howell Township Police Department, and the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
