You don't have to be a veteran business owner to know that not all clients are created equal. There are likely clients that you wish would be the majority of your clientele.
We get it, and we're going to show you how to make that happen in this article.
Working with your dream clients will increase your quality of life and overall health. (Simply because the wrong clients will bring anxiety and unnecessary stress).
First, we must state there are some nuances to this. The main one is, often, when in the launching season of a business, every crumb is a meal. So, it's challenging to be more discerning when there's no waiting list for your product or service (yet).
Regardless of your business's industry, despite being B to B or B to C, it's critical to get clear on who your dream client is as soon as possible—that level of clarity levels your messaging and profitability. Clarity often comes through the experience of learning what you like and what you don't want in a client relationship. There are some non-negotiables and some nice-to-haves. Know the difference.
Some examples are pleasantness of attitude, available discretionary income, reasonable in logic, etc. Getting laser clarity on your dream client is a process. That means you're discerning which ones stand out while serving your clientele for all the best reasons. This intentional process will always move the needle forward and keep you in momentum.
What if you don't know who you should focus on when you're first launching a business? We once heard it described in this story; you're in a rescue helicopter flying over a wrecked ship in the middle of the ocean, and you want to save all the people stranded there. But your helicopter can't hold all of the people. So, who do you save?
Q: Do you save the ones swimming toward you or the ones swimming away from you? A: You focus on the ones swimming toward you. Likewise, when it comes to your dream client, if those swimming toward you are not your dream clients, that's a sign that it's time to change your messaging to align with your dream client.
Clear messaging is critical when it comes to attracting your dream clients. When your message resonates, they will respond.
