Police in Jersey City are looking into the motive behind a shooting that injured a male on a street in the city Sunday morning.
According to police, officials at Jersey City Medical Center contacted authorities when a male victim entered the emergency department suffering a gunshot injury at approximately 2:30 a.m.
Police focused their attention in the area of 102 Martin Luther King Drive after the victim stated that he was struck by gunfire near the Cherry's Lounge.
Officers searched the area, but it is not immediately clear if a crime scene was established.
The extent of the victim's injuries were not reported as life-threatening.
Jersey City Police will handle the investigation at this time.
