Authorities in Hudson County announced that the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Union City Police Department are investigating the death of a male that occurred on Thursday, November 14.Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez stated that at approximately 11 a.m., the Union City Police Department was notified of an unresponsive male behind a building on 23rd Street.
Responding officer located a lifeless male – later identified as Reynaldo Gonzalez, 56 – and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 11:30 a.m., Hudson County officials said.
According to Union City Police, on Wednesday, November 26, the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be Complications of Blunt Force Injuries and the Manner to be Homicide.
Following the Medical Examiner’s report, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit formally assumed control of the investigation, Hudson County authorities said. This investigation is active and ongoing, officials say. No arrests have been made at this time.
