The Middlesex County Prosecutor's has taken over the investigation into a shooting that left a person dead in New Brunswick during the overnight hours.
According to preliminary reports, police were called to reports of a shooting that took place in the 70's block of Lee Avenue.
Several police officers arrived at the scene and found the unidentified victim suffering bullet wounds at that location.
Police say the victim was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where doctors made the pronouncement a short time later.
The motive for the shooting and the identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
Police say there were no other injuries.
