Police charged a 29-year-old homeless Bayonne man with assault after he knocked a man out during a fight police said.
According to police, Robert Crute IV, repeatedly stomped on the man during the altercation that occurred on Washington Street at around noon on Friday.
Police charged Crute was with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of the victim authorities said in a press release.
Authorities said a witness dialed 911 while following Crute and a patrol officer arrested him near Hudson Street. .
The victim was was treated for a serious head trauma at Hoboken Hospital police said.
