An early morning fire that ignited a home and business in Paterson is under investigation.
According to preliminary reports, the fire began in an alley between the two structures that's located in the 60's block of State Street at about 4:00 a.m. then extended to both buildings by the time firefighters arrived.
Heavy flames extended up the outside of the duplex home to the first and second floors, then to the attic, leaving all residents displaced reports said.
An auto body shop sustained extensive damage to the roof area, and a third building on the opposite side of the home suffered exterior damage.
It took crews approximately one hour to place the blaze under control.
There were no reported injuries.
The cause is under investigation.
