A 31-year-old East Orange man was arrested in Hoboken after he was allegedly found in possession of more than 90 packets of heroin.
According to authorities, on Dec. 27th at 7:31 p.m., Police Officers Sam Williams and Ryan Houghton were patrolling the area around the housing authority complex on Jackson Street when they saw Michael Hosein -who’s familiar to officers - trespassing at 320 Jackson Street.
When the officers entered the building, they spotted Hosein and Albert Morales, 28, of Jersey City, leaving the building, and ordered them to stop. Although Morales complied, Hosein fled and ensued a foot chase.
Officials say Hosein discarded approximately 80 bags of suspected heroin as he fled. Officers, however, found Hosein in possession of 10 additional bags of heroin and more than $300 in drug proceeds.
Police charged Hosein with possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin within 1,000 feet of a public school, possession with intent to distribute within 500 feet of public property, resisting arrest, obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia and defiant trespass.
Officials charged Morales with defiant trespass.
