Hillside NAACP, Kean University Unite to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s Legacy

In a powerful tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s enduring dream of equality, the Hillside NAACP, under the remarkable leadership of Founder and President Nicole Graves-Watson, is set to host a day of reflection, service, and unity on January 20, 2024.

This celebration of Dr. King’s legacy will highlight the strength of diversity and the shared commitment to justice and community advancement.AdThe day will begin with a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at 9:00 a.m. in Charlotte DeFillipo Park, across from Hillside High School at 1085 Liberty Avenue.

This event will honor Dr. King's life and work, symbolizing his unwavering dedication to peace, progress, and equality.

Following the ceremony, the Hillside NAACP will host a day of service at Kean University in partnership with the Coalition for Jewish and African American Unity.

The event will take place in the North Avenue Academic Building at 1000 Morris Avenue from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with breakfast provided to attendees.  

This collaboration stresses  the NAACP Hillside Chapter’s dynamic commitment to fostering unity and bridging cultural divides.

President Nicole Graves-Watson's vision for the organization resonates deeply with Dr. King’s ideals, making this day not just a celebration but a call to action.  

“Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. dreamed of a world where people of all races and backgrounds could come together in mutual respect and understanding,” said Graves-Watson.
